About Mykonos

Mykonos is located in the cyclades islands on the south east of Tinos.
What makes this small (about 10 miles long), arid island so popular? At least initially, it was the exceptionally handsome cycladic architecture, and the fact that it has so much to offer to the vistors.

First came the jet setters, artists and expatriates, as well as the mainland Greeks who opened many of the chic shops and resturants - all followed by vistors from around the world looking for real Greek holidays.

According to mytholodgy, Mykonos was formed by the petrified bodies of the giants that Herculed killed. Later the island was named after the hero Myknono who was descended form Apollo. Reputed to have some of the best sandy beaches in the Aegean Sea, there is a beach for every taste. The film 'Shirley Valentine' was filmed on one of Mykonos' beaches.
