Japan has four distinctive seasons-
Winter brings lots of snow which is eagerly awaited by skiers and snowboarders who crowd the popular resorts such as Hakuba and Naeba.
Spring shows one of the best loved symbols of Japan (cherry blossom) sweep across the country throughout April.
Summer is hot and humid with temperatures reaching into the high 30s. Its also the season for festivals and fireworks.
As the temperatures start to cool in Autumn the leaves begin to change colour and the red leaves of late autumn are an often breathtaking sight especially against a backdrop of Mt Fuji or a temple of Kyoto.
