Introduction

Trehorningsjo, Jamtland is a great summer destination for those seeking as much or as little activity as possible. A week’s accommodation in Log Cabins, nestled amongst a beautiful forest, close to Lake Trehorningsjo ensures your time here is a memorable one. Various activities and for those of you seeking peace and relaxation take full advantage of the wellness facilities.

Days 1 - 2

Day 1: On arrival at Ostersund Airport transfer to Trehorningsho. On arrival your hosts will welcome you and take you on a tour of the resort.

Day 2: Try your luck at fishing on the floating sauna. Try catching some Perch, which, if successful, will be grilled later for you to eat. Time will also be allowed for a nice relaxing sauna.

Day 3 - 4

Day 3: Why not join your fellow guests in a visit to Bjurholm and Algens Hus, known as ‘The House of Elk’. A presentation will take place on this impressive animal and you will learn about the importance of it to the people of Jamtland.

Day 4: A hike along the river to a mill today, where you will be shown how to grind barley meal. Before you leave you will receive a package of traditional produce, including Tunnbord, a typical thin unleavened bread, barley meal, porridge and parpalt. There will be time for fishing if desired, try your luck landing ‘the big one’, however you will need to bring your fishing rod with you! On the way back there will be time to go herb picking, which can be used in your bath at the end of the day.

Day 5 - 6

Day 5: Try your hand at baking Tunnbord in the local bakery today, and be shown how to identify local produce used for cooking; picking mushrooms,berries or herbs, depending on the season. Afternnon free.

Day 6: Full day of leisure. Choose from a massage, solarium, sauna, or some Chinese medicine at the wellness centre. Take a swim, a walk of bicycle ride, or simply relax with a book. A visit to the town of Ornskoldsvik is also worthwhile.

Day 7 - 8

Day 7: Join your fellow guests in a visit to Prastgardsdesign, enjoying the textiles and a fine cup of coffee. You will then go to see the goats and their kids in Djuptjarn, before travelling to the town of Trolleho to see the local handicraft. The more energetic could do this excursion on a tandem bike, the round trip 18 kilometres in total!

Day 8: Today will be your transfer to Ostersund Airport for your return flights home to the UK.
